Kobuleti and Kintrishi Protected Areas’ newly opened Visitors’ Center

Deputy Minister Ms. Ekaterine Grigalava together with Chairman of Adjara Government Zurab Pataridze opened Kobuleti and Kintrishi Protected Areas Administration and Visitors’ Center.
The center was built and equippted by the financial support of Kolkheti Protected Areas’ Development Fund and KfW. The center unites administration building, visitors’ center, exhibition hall, 4 rooms and café.
Kobuleti Protected Areas was created in 1998 year. Teritory manages Kobuleti Nature Reserve and Managed Reserve.
Kobuleti Protected Areas has international importance and it had created for the purpose of preserving unique eco-system. Kobuleti Protected Areas is important livehood for migratory birds. White moss and sphagnum are specially important.
There are Ispani 1 and Ispani 2 trails at Kobuleti Protected Areas, where visitors have an opportunity to hold eco-educational tours and enjoy mud-skiing.
Kintrishi Protected Areas is located in Adjara, Kobuleti Municipality, with a total area of 13.893 ha. It is located in the picturesque valley of the river Kintrishi, between village Tskhemovani and Khino Mountains, at an altitude of 300-2500 meters above sea level. Kintrishi Protected Areas Administration manages two different types of protected areas – State Nature Reserve and Protected landscape.
There are relict forest and plants’ endemic species at the territory. There are four protectecd areas on place: Mtirala National Park, Machakhela National Park, Kobuleti Protected Areas and Kintrishi Protected Landscape.
Visitor Centre’s opening ceremony was attended by Government of Georgia, Donor Organizations, representatives of local municipality and members of the Government of Adjara.
