A meeting was held at the Agency of Protected Areas with a delegation from the Korea National Park Research Center (KNPRC).

Tamar Khakhishvili, Deputy Chairperson of the Agency of Protected Areas, met with the delegation members. During the meeting, both sides reviewed their existing cooperation and discussed opportunities for implementing new joint initiatives.

As part of the visit, a joint seminar titled "Protected Areas and Climate Change Response" took place. Georgian and Korean specialists shared their experience regarding the management, monitoring, and response to climate risks in protected areas under changing climate conditions.

The seminar participants also discussed early warning systems, ecosystem monitoring, and climate change impact assessments. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties addressed ways to further deepen future cooperation.

Notably, as part of this partnership, the Korean side presented the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia with two automatic meteorological stations to be installed in Kazbegi National Park. The stations will be used for continuous monitoring of environmental and climatic conditions, and the gathered data will support protected area management and climate impact evaluations.

Cooperation between the national park services of Georgia and the Republic of Korea began in 2021 under a Memorandum of Understanding and was further strengthened in 2025 with a twinning agreement between Bukhansan and Kazbegi National Parks.
