German Cooperation’s Role in Green Economics Development

In the frame of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s Eight Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Gigla Agulashvili, Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Ekaterine Grigalava and Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Lasha Moistsrapishvili attended  a project presentation German Cooperation Role at Green Economics Development in Southern Caucasus countries. 
 
Financial support of environmental projects are implemented by KfW. Since 1995 year, approximately 80 milliion Euros had been allocated due to projects implementation.

German Government’s one of the priority is protected areas establishment and its capacity development. It has to be mentioned, that World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is the main partner in the region that implements environmental programs, in 2003 year, Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park had been established that satisfies all international standards. Currently, WWF implements two regional programs. Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF) is a financial supporter of the Agency of Protected Areas. CNF facilitates 9 administrations costs co-finance, and Agency’s employees insurance.  

The event had been participated by representatives of KFW, BMUB, BMZ, and WWW Caucasus.
