Сycling tour to Tusheti National Park

For those who would like to test their athletic prowess, from 5th-8th, we invite you to participate in a cycling tour. The tour begins in the village of Lechuri in the Kakheti region and ends in the village of Omalo in Tusheti. This trip requires endurance, physical fitness, and a will to succeed as it traverses some of the most difficult roads in Georgia. 

The Agency of Protected Areas is organizing the cycling tour, and also providing participants with transportation from Lechuri to Omalo and back, as well as meals, luggage transfer, and tents. 

The Lechuri – Abano Pass is 34km and renowned for its difficult terrain. Special transportation will be provided for those can’t quite make it to the highest point of the pass by 16:00. Other participants will be provided transport to the Ranger’s Hut, the first camping site of the tour. 

Tour participants must have their own bicycles and helmets. They must also be experienced cyclists, capable of riding long distances at an incline.

Tour schedule:  

September 5, Thursday: 19:00 - Meet at the Sport Palace; depart from Tbilisi towards the village of Lechuri. Stay overnight in tents.

September 6, Friday: 08:00 – Commence cycling tour to Abano Pass (2900 m). Stay overnight at Ranger’s Hut on the north side of the pass (45 km).

September 7, Saturday: 08:00 – Ranger’s Hut – Village Omalo (18 km). Stay overnight in tents.

September 8, Sunday: Omalo – Tbilisi. Transportation will be provided by 4X4 minibus.
