According to information provided by an inspection conducted for the Agency of Protected Areas by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resource Protection of Georgia, evidence of illegal logging has been found in Algeti National Park, about 25km from the village of Manglisi. Parts from 96 beech, spruce, pine, oak and hornbeam trees were cut illegally, which has resulted in 32 cubic meters of damage to the park. The environmental damage caused by this illegal logging has been valued 7,844 Gel. Currently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is leading an investigation into the matter
