Contracts Signed for the Development of Protected Area Infrastructure under the BSLD Project

Within the Protected Areas component of the Biodiversity and Sustainable Local Development (BSLD) Project, contracts were signed on 19 August 2026 for two major infrastructure activities.

The contracts cover the design and construction of administrative offices and visitor centers, adjacent grounds, hiking trails, tourist shelters, ranger houses, and related infrastructure in Tana Managed Reserve, Erusheti National Park, and Kvereti Managed Reserve.

The total value of the contracts amounts to EUR 4,799,669.05 (VAT included), and the joint venture of IERI LLC (Georgia) and JSC Arikan (Turkey) has been selected to carry out the works. The infrastructure development envisaged under the project will contribute to improving the administrative and visitor service infrastructure of the protected areas and to creating an appropriate environment for visitors.

The BSLD Project is implemented by the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), supported by KfW. The overall goal of the project is to support the protected areas network and sustainable development.
